Free Pattern Friday: Mommy & Me Beanie Set

Happy Free Pattern Friday! Today, I am bringing you a very special beanie set that has taken up the better part of my 2020 so far! I wanted to make sure everything was absolutely perfect for you guys, down to the very last stitch.

As a business-focused New Years' Resolution, I've also been more dedicated to revamping and updating the majority of my graphics by using a few photo editing tricks & apps that are at my disposal. I hope you like them!

Getting back to the free pattern offered today, this Mommy & Me Beanie Set holds a cozy place in my heart. Not only is it the first time in a while that I've felt completely comfortable with knitting & getting my stitch sizing & speed down, it's also the first time I've sat down and really concentrated on developing a complete knit sizing chart. Needless to say I've needed one for a looooong time now. While the chart itself is not included as part of the free pattern in this post, you are more than welcome to download it in my complete, detailed PDF- available for $4.99 on my Etsy page (link below)!

Whether you are working up the perfect Valentine's Day gift for that special Mommy & little one on your list, or simply want to make one for yourself, keep scrolling for the free pattern!

Mommy & Me Beanie Set

Materials

2 skeins weight 6 yarn (I used Lion Brand Hometown USA in “Springfield Silver” and "Anchorage Ice")

Faux Fur Pom Pom

Scissors

*Crochet hook (optional but very useful for finishing)

Needles

Circular needles- size 13 (9.00mm)

Terms

K1 = knit 1

P1 = purl 1

k2tog = knit 2 together (decrease)

F/O = finish off *refer to notes section for my finishing technique*

Gauge

(Width) 4 stitches = ~ 1.5 inches

(length) 4 rows = ~ 1 inch

Notes

>For cleanest finish, cast on stitches should be in multiples of 4

>Finishing Technique:

1. Once your last decreasing row is less than 10 stitches, using your working needle (stitch closest to tip has yarn tail from skein attached) slip off the 1st 2 stitches & pull the loop from the 1st stitch (has tail attached) through the 2nd loop.

2. Continue this technique (slip off loop & pull 1st stitch with tail through) until you reach the end.

3. Once the last loop has been worked, you should be left with the original 1st loop & the yarn tail. Pull the tail through the loop & pull tail tight to create a knot & pull all stitches together. Pull tail through loop 1 more time to secure & cut (leaving a couple inches to pull through to the inside of the hat).
